The Crisis Center of West Texas have extended registrations for the 2019 Wonder Girls, open to all girls entering the 5th-8th grades 2019-20 school year, through Friday or until all spaces are full. Camp Fire West Texas is offering Kids Care, a state licensed, affordable quality program, for students enrolled in one of the following 10 Odessa campuses starting the fall: Austin, Burnet, Gonzales, Noel, Pease, Buice, Cameron, Ross, Burleson and Jordan Elementary schools. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. July 15 and will continue until all spots are filled. The after-school programs are operated by Camp Fire West Texas, and components of the program include homework help, games, arts & crafts, outdoor recreation, and traditional Camp Fire activities and projects. The program will be offered from the time school is out until 6 p.m. Enrollment will be limited, with a child to adult ratio of no more than 15:1 to provide attention and quality supervision. To register for Kids Care, you must complete an online registration form and pay a $20 annual fee for each child enrolled. A weekly $45 fee will be charged per child and financial assistance is available for those who quality. First Basin Credit Union has kicked-off the fourth annual Back to School Supply Drive benefitting the children of the Rainbow Room of the Permian Basin. The Rainbow Room works with Child Protective Services (CPS) and helps foster children, and all other children involved in CPS care, throughout Midland, Odessa, Andrews and surrounding counties. The Rainbow Room is requesting the following items to help equip children for the 2019-2020 school year: backpacks, folders, spiral notebooks, pens/pencils, binders, highlighters, glue, sticks, tissues, hand sanitizer, markers, crayons, rulers, scissors and headphone.
