TxDOT distracted driving campaign stopping in Midland

Texas Department of Transportation’s statewide campaign about combating distracted driving will be at the Midland Library.
The "Heads Up, Texas" campaign is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at the Midland Library at the Plaza located at 301 W Missouri Ave., in Midland.
Midland was selected as one of the 12 high-priority cities the "Heads Up, Texas" campaign will work in collaboration with AT&T’s "It Can Wait" campaign to bring virtual reality distracted driving experiences, a TxDOT press release detailed.
The AT&T campaign is a virtual reality video that shows distracted driving scenarios and victim stories, a TxDOT press release stated. It will also include two new interactive displays from "Heads Up, Texas."
In 2017, there was a statewide law banning texting and driving in Texas and the number of crashing involving distracting driving decreased by 6% when comparing the 12-month periods before and after the ban took place, the press release detailed.
