Texas Department of Transportation’s statewide campaign about combating distracted driving will be at the Midland Library.
The "Heads Up, Texas" campaign is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at the Midland Library at the Plaza located at 301 W Missouri Ave., in Midland.
Midland was selected as one of the 12 high-priority cities the "Heads Up, Texas" campaign will work in collaboration with AT&T’s "It Can Wait" campaign to bring virtual reality distracted driving experiences, a TxDOT press release detailed.
The AT&T campaign is a virtual reality video that shows distracted driving scenarios and victim stories, a TxDOT press release stated. It will also include two new interactive displays from "Heads Up, Texas."
In 2017, there was a statewide law banning texting and driving in Texas and the number of crashing involving distracting driving decreased by 6% when comparing the 12-month periods before and after the ban took place, the press release detailed.
