ABILENE Texas State Technical College and Practice Management Institute (PMI) are providing a system-wide training initiative for Hendrick Health employees in Abilene according to a Tuesday news release.
The program will bring front desk, management, coding, compliance and billing courses to hospital employees. It will also include certifications for Certified Medical Office Manager (CMOM), Certified Medical Coder (CMC), Certified Medical Insurance Specialist (CMIS), Certified Medical Chart Auditor-EM (CMCA) and Certified Medical Compliance Officer (CMCO) for some staff members. The initiative will also include the newest PMI tracks, which are Patient Services Representative levels one and two, the release detailed.
The training was made possible through a Skills Development Fund grant approved by the Texas Workforce Commission as Hendrick Health employees work to maintain standards of excellence. This is the fourth grant for Hendrick Health utilizing the PMI curriculum.
“Our sincere thanks to Hendrick Health and TSTC staff for their collaboration in this endeavor and, of course, to the Texas Workforce Commission,” said Michael Moore, PMI’s vice president of partner development, in the release.
Cindy Brunett, TSTC’s executive director of Workforce Training and Continuing Education, said working with PMI to provide training has been successful.
“Our partnership has yielded phenomenal results, especially through the Texas Workforce Commission’s Skills for Small Business and Skills Development Fund initiatives aimed at lifting up Texas businesses through training,” she said in the release. “I’ve seen how partnerships, focused on the end user, can be transformative. Our partnership with PMI is proof of that. TSTC remains grateful to PMI for the opportunity to partner with them and provide these important courses to Hendrick Health employees.”
Michelle Mauldin, the employee development manager for Hendrick Health, has also seen the partnership pay off with employee growth.
