Three storage buildings were destroyed by fire in West Odessa on Saturday afternoon, but responders controlled the fire before any nearby residences were badly damaged.

Odessa Fire and Rescue division captain Joey White said that five residences were threatened by the fire near the intersection of 12th Street and North Avenue D, but the residences were saved.

White said that high vegetation and wind helped spread the fire quickly.

The fire came within a few feet of one home and heat warped its siding, but the fire was controlled before further damage and no families were displaced. There were no injuries. None of the destroyed buildings were attached to any residences.

White said Saturday afternoon that officials were still investigating the cause of the fire.
