Spero Health Opens New Clinic in Crossville, TN – Bringing Hope to Those Struggling with Addiction

BRENTWOOD, Tenn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Feb 22, 2021–
As drug overdose deaths soar to an all-time high, Spero Health has expanded further in Tennessee with the opening of a new addiction treatment clinic in Crossville. CARF-accredited, Spero Health is a national leader in providing care for individuals struggling with substance use disorders and will bring affordable, high quality addiction treatment services through a combination of telehealth and in-person visit options at this new clinic. Located at 1846 South Main Street, the clinic will open its doors on February 23rd, and joins a network of over 45 Spero Health locations throughout Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and Indiana, providing care for more than 8,500 patients. Spero Health accepts TennCare and most commercial insurance plans. Individuals who need addiction treatment services are encouraged to walk-in for help or call: 931-340-5065 for more information or to schedule an appointment.
Spero Health’s Dr. Harold Alan Chertok will be the medical director and lead physician at the new Crossville clinic. Board-certified in Family Medicine and board-eligible in Addiction Medicine, Dr. Chertok has a long history of providing treatment for substance use disorders locally, and shares Spero’s philosophy that an integrated approach to addiction treatment leads to long term success and positive outcomes in recovery. Speaking about the need for local services, Dr Chertok said, “The drug epidemic was here long before the pandemic, but now we are experiencing mental health challenges made worse by the pandemic. Overdose deaths have accelerated locally and nationally, and it’s vital that treatment options are available close to home, so individuals have immediate access to life-saving services.”
According to the latest data by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 81,000 people died due to drug overdoses in the 12 months from May 2019 through May 2020- the largest number of overdose deaths recorded in a single year. Speaking about this, Spero Health’s CEO, Steve Priest said, “When the spread of the pandemic started last year, our most vulnerable became even more vulnerable, experiencing job loss, isolation and increased psychological issues, all of which made an already life-threatening drug epidemic even worse. Alarming rates of overdose deaths have spiked because people have felt uncertainty and instability. Now more than ever communities need to have local, affordable access to life-saving addiction treatment options, and we are working very hard to continue to make that happen.”
“Studies consistently show that medication-assisted treatment and counseling decrease drug use, improve overall health and get people back to a more normal life. Treatment works, but there isn’t a one-size fits all solution, which is why Spero Health considers each unique patient need when developing treatment plans and setting goals for the future,” said Dr. Chertok. “Spero Health’s approach is designed to provide rapid access to care and allow individuals to remain in their communities throughout treatment so they can continue working and caring for their families, which ultimately enhances their quality of life.”
