Smithsonian traveling exhibit coming to Basin

Ahead of the Smithsonian Water/Ways exhibition arriving in the Odessa-Midland area later this year, organizers have set up a social media blitz called #ShowUsYourFlowers Campaign for Friday.

Organizations with a beautiful garden or flowers on its grounds can snap a quick photo and share it with @MuseumOnMainSt on Twitter or @SitesExhibitions on Instagram using #ShowUsYourFlowers.

The goals are to celebrate the spring season and give the host venues the opportunity to participate in a fun, uplifting and easy campaign and to make connections with “Water/Ways” exhibition content.

On Friday around 8:30 a.m. Central time @MuseumOnMainSt on Twitter and @SitesExhibitions on Instagram will post a prompt that says “#ShowsYourFlowers.”

The Smithsonian website says the Water/Ways exhibit from Museum on Main Street takes a “deep look at water component of life on our planet, which powers the environment’s engine, impacts climate and helps shape and sculpt the landscape. Humans and animals rely on water for health, hydration, food supplies, and hygiene.”

Host venues may also invite their visitors and followers on social media to participate by using the hashtag and showing their flowers.

Currently, the exhibit will run Nov. 13 through Jan. 1, 2022, at Midland College and then Jan. 8 through Feb. 26, 2022, at University of Texas Permian Basin.

From March 5, 2022, through April 30, 2022, it will be at Centennial Museum and Chihuahuan Desert Gardens in El Paso.
