Rollover causes oilfield acid spill in Andrews County

State Highway 176, about 20 miles west of Andrews, was closed Wednesday morning after a truck tractor carrying an oilfield acid product rolled over.

The rollover was reported to the Andrews County Sheriff’s Office at about 6:37 a.m. Wednesday. A news release from the sheriff’s office stated State Highway 176 from Farm to Market Road 181 to the New Mexico State line may remain closed until the wreckage and spill is removed and the damage to the roadway can be assessed. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has been notified, the release stated.

Motorists traveling between Andrews and New Mexico are advised to seek an alternate route.
