Hospice of Odessa, 219 W. Fourth St., has scheduled volunteer trainings from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 and Oct. 16.

Different volunteer opportunities are available. Reservations are required.

OFD puppet show

The Ector County Library, 321 W. Fifth St., has scheduled Odessa Fire Department Puppet Show at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

In addition, there will also be a fire engine viewing at 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot.

Family Fun Night

Highland United Methodist Church, 1808 N. Dixie Blvd., has scheduled a Family Fun Night with games, sandwiches and snacks at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Candlelight vigil

Join the organizations behind Basin Pride for a candlelight vigil honoring the third anniversary of the Pulse Night Club Shooting from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. June 12 at Odessa College Amphitheater, behind the Saulsbury Campus Center, 201 W. University Blvd.

The event will commemorate their lives and look with hope to a future without violence towards the LGBTQ+ community.

Musicians’ conference

The biennial Hispanic Pastoral Musicians’ Conference has been scheduled June 27-29 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 7601 N. Grandview Ave.

Registration begins at 5 p.m. June 27 and 8 a.m., June 28-29.

Through speakers and workshop presenters, participants will learn more about Catholic liturgy, improve their knowledge and skills for the music industry, learn new music from accomplished composers and gain renewed enthusiasm for excellence in their ministries.

Sessions in English and Spanish will include basics in music, building a choir, the Chant of the Misal Romano, the Mass of Renewal and music for weddings, quinceaneras and funerals.

Registration fees are $50 for June 27 only, $100 for June 28 only, $50 for June 29 only and $150 for all three days.
