UPDATE: The Cotton Flat Road overpass that goes over Interstate 20 near Midland County’s Horseshoe arena was closed Tuesday due to damage from an oversized load, a Texas Department of Transportation news release said.
TxDOT workers are wrapping the beams underneath the bridge and will open the Cotton Flat overpass over I-20 in Midland this evening once that work is complete, TxDOT Spokesman Gene Powell said in a news release.
This is the third bridge closure of the year, as both the Business I-20 overpass over I-20 in Stanton and the bridge carrying County Road 1150 across I-20 east of Midland have been closed due to severe damage from oversize loads. Powell said TxDOT has now seen 14 bridge hits since Nov. 1 of last year.
