The Odessa Police Department is investigating a series of two crashes involving five vehicles that occurred Tuesday morning that led to the death of one woman.

Police responded to the incident around 8:18 a.m. Tuesday morning in the 1400 block of Yukon Road, OPD Spokesman Steve LeSueur said.

Police report the crash occurred as a grey Buick Verano, being driven by 54-year-old Anna Paredes, was traveling eastbound and stopped to turn into the Alternative Education Center, 1299 E. Yukon Road, when a black Nissan Xterra collided into the back of her vehicle, sending her vehicle into westbound oncoming traffic. The Buick was then struck a second time by a grey Dodge Durango and sent back into the eastbound lane.

Paredes was the only person in that vehicle, LeSueur said, and was taken to Medical Center Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. The two other drivers involved were also taken to Medical center Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Seconds later, police reported, a black Dodge Charger stopped in front of the scene, and was struck from behind by a blue Chevrolet 1500.

LeSueur said no arrests have been made and the accident is still under investigation.
