One woman is dead after a motorcycle wreck outside of Midland last weekend.
Rachel Smalling, 28, of Odessa, was pronounced dead on the scene after a crash around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, a Texas Department of Public Safety news release detailed.
The release states Smalling was riding passenger on a 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Cody Lewis, 26, of Odessa, at the time of the crash. Lewis was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital with incapacitating injuries, the release said.
The wreck occurred at South County Road 1305 and West County Road 100, about seven miles west of Midland.
The release said that preliminary investigation indicated that the motorcycle was traveling east on West County Road 100 when the driver lost control, left the roadway, and both the driver and passenger were thrown from the motorcycle.
