Odessa teen killed in Andrews County crash

A 19-year-old Odessan died in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning north of Andrews after his vehicle collided with a semi-trailer.

Omar Padilla-Arrieta of Odessa was driving north in a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu at about 6:31 a.m. Wednesday on State Highway 115, 10 miles north of Andrews, a Texas Department of Transportation news release stated.

A second driver, 37-year-old Joan Rodriguez of Miami, was driving a 1997 Freightliner truck tractor with a semi-trailer attached, south on the same road, the release detailed, when Padilla-Arrieta entered the southbound lane and collided into the truck tractor.

Padilla-Arrieta was pronounced dead at the scene and was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt.
