Odessa man dies in two-vehicle wreck with juveniles

A 62-year-old Odessa man died after he was reportedly involved in a two-vehicle wreck with a juvenile.

The wreck happened at 10:54 p.m. Friday near the intersection of West Apple Street and South Bonanza Avenue, a Department of Public Safety news release stated.

Two male juveniles were traveling west on Apple Street in a 2013 Cadillac Escalade, the release detailed. Hilario Medina, 62, of Odessa was attempting to turn east onto Apple Street from Bonanza Avenue in a 2004 Cadillac Escalade.

The 2013 Escalade collided with the 2004 Escalade, the release stated. The crash is still under investigation.

Medina was pronounced dead at the scene, the release stated. Medina was wearing his seatbelt. The juvenile driving the 2014 Escalade wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, but the juvenile passenger was.

The juvenile that wasn’t wearing his seatbelt was transported to the Medical Center Hospital with incapacitating injuries, the release detailed.
