Odessa man dies in two-vehicle collision

A 39-year-old Odessa man is dead after a two-vehicle collision in West Odessa, a Texas Department of Public Safety press release stated.

The collision reportedly happened at 10:17 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Yukon Road and Moss Road, six miles west of Odessa.

Dustin Eilers, 18, of Odessa was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro west on Yukon Road, while Rodolfo Martinez, 39, of Odessa was also traveling in a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe west on Yukon Road, the release detailed.

The Tahoe was reportedly traveling a short distance behind the Camaro. The Camaro slowed down to turn south onto Moss Road. The Tahoe attempted to pass the Camaro as it was making a left turn. The Tahoe struck the Camaro and then rolled.

Eilers and Martinez were both transported to Medical Center Hospital, the release stated. Martinez pronounced dead by MCH staff and Eilers had non-incapacitating injuries. Eilers was no longer was listed as a patient at MCH on Thursday, an MCH official stated.

Eilers was wearing his seatbelt, while Martinez wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, the release detailed.
