Odessa man dies in two-vehicle collision

A 38-year-old man died in a two-vehicle collision in southwest Odessa.

The reported fatal collision happened at 6:55 p.m. Aug. 29 on State Loop 338 mile marker 254 about two miles southwest of Odessa, a Texas Department of Public Safety press release stated.

Maria Rodriguez-Saena, 31, of Odessa was reportedly driving a 2015 Ford F-150, while Hector R. Talamantes, 38, of Odessa was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban.

Investigation showed the F-150 was traveling north of State Loop 338, while the Suburban was traveling south on State Loop 338, the press release detailed. The F-150 failed to drive in a single lane and collided with the Suburban.

Talamantes was pronounced dead by Odessa Fire Rescue at the scene, while Rodriguez-Saena was transported to Medical Center Hospital with incapacitating injuries. Neither driver was wearing their seatbelts.

The collision is still under investigation.
