An Odessa man killed as a result of a wreck between two tractor-trailers in Reeves County on Thursday was identified Friday by Texas Department of Public Safety.
Carlos Hinojos, 59, of Odessa, was pronounced dead on the scene, a news release stated. A passenger in the other truck, Nayely Zapata, 33, of Hollywood, Fla., was taken to Medical Center Hospital with incapacitating injuries. The driver of that truck, Nestor Garcia, 34, of Hollywood, Fla., was uninjured.
The release stated that early investigation indicated that the vehicle driven by Hinojos failed to yield the right of way, at the intersection State Highway 302 and U.S. Highway 285, five miles west of Mentone. The wreck occurred in clear and dry conditions at around 4 p.m.
