A Midland man died following a fatal crash that occurred Wednesday morning in northeast Odessa.
Police were called about the crash around 10 a.m. Wednesday near Northeast Loop 338 and Mecca Street.
A white Kenworth truck tractor with a trailer, driven by 47-year-old Eljay Morris of Midland, was stopped for traffic in the 3400 block of northeast Loop 338, an Odessa Police Department news release stated.
At the same time, a white Volkswagen Beetle, driven by 37-year-old Wendell Mitchell of Midland, was traveling north in the same block, the release detailed, when he failed to control speed and collided into the truck tractor from behind.
The release stated Mitchell was killed on impact and pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
