Odessa police are searching for a driver who left the scene of a hit and run early Sunday morning in northwest Odessa that put one man in the hospital with serious injuries.

Odessa Fire Rescue and Odessa Police Department responded to the major crash at about 12:16 a.m. Sunday at University Boulevard and Ventura Avenue. Police reported another vehicle was traveling on the wrong side of the road when it collided with 24-year-old Sergio Ojeda’s vehicle and left the scene of the wreck. Ojeda’s front passenger, 19-year-old Julian Marquez was transported to Medical Center Hospital with serious bodily injury, an OPD news release stated. No other injuries were reported.

Investigation determined Ojeda was driving east in the 1900 block of West University Boulevard in a white 2012 Dodge Ram. The other vehicle, a white 2007 Ford Expedition was traveling west in the 1900 block of West University Boulevard on the wrong side of the road when it collided with the Dodge.

The driver of the Ford Expedition left the scene of the accident without meeting the necessary legal requirements, the release stated.
