UPDATE: Westbound outside lane on Interstate 20 near County Road 1300 in Midland has been blocked following a crash that caused a tanker to leak oil.

The westbound passing lane has reopened.

The westbound driving lane and on-ramps will be closed as a Hazmat crew works to clean up the spill, a Texas Department of Transportation press release said.

TxDOT is advising travelers driving that way to use the north service road from Loop 250 to Loop 338.

Gene Powell, Odessa District of TxDOT Spokesman, said it’s unknown how much oil was spilled at this time. Powell said it was a 400-gallon tank that spilled, but was unsure if the tank had partitions inside to keep the oil from shifting, which could also mean less oil spilling onto the road.

Powell said it’s unknown when the lanes will be reopened.
