Man crashes after high-speed police chase

Officers arrested a man Monday morning after he crashed into a parked vehicle and residence during a high-speed pursuit with police.

While patrolling the 2700 block of Grandview Avenue, officers saw a red Nissan Maxima traveling south on the road at 88 mph, 40 miles higher than the 45 mph speed limit, an Odessa Police Department news release stated.

After activating their emergency lights and siren, the suspect, 17-year-old Ociel Carrillo, refused to stop and evaded officers before crashing into a parked vehicle and residence in the 1000 block of Limestone Avenue, the release detailed.

There were no reports of injuries due to the incident.

Carrillo was charged with evading with a motor vehicle, a third-degree felony.

Jail records show Carrillo was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Monday and was released Wednesday on a $25,000 bond.
