Former county judge named TAC Executive Director

Former Ector County Judge Susan Redford was selected this week to become the new Executive Director of the Texas Association of Counties beginning Jan. 1, 2019.

Redford served as County Judge of Ector County before stepping down in October 2015 to serve as Judicial Program Manager for TAC, and was replaced by current County Judge Ron Eckert.

“I am excited for this opportunity,” Redford said. “I believe becoming the next executive director for TAC gives me the ability to take what I learned during my time in Ector County and share that on a statewide level.”

Her primary goal upon assuming the position, Redford said, will be to continue the services TAC delivers to Texas Counties and county officials, and to also work with counties to find ways to improve internal processes and help them deal with day-to-day struggles they face.

Redford served as Ector County Judge for six years, and prior taking office in 2007, served Ector County as an assistant district attorney and an assistant county attorney.

Gene Terry is the current executive director of TAC, and will be retiring at the end of the year to be replaced by Redford. Terry said Redford is ideally suited for the job.

“She has the experience and skill TAC needs and is a born leader,” Terry said in a prepared statement. “I expect her to provide an extraordinary future for the Association.”
