GOOD NEWS: Sul Ross students receive graduate fellowships

ALPINE Fourteen graduate fellowships totaling $89,000 were awarded for 2018-19 through Sul Ross State University’s College of Graduate Studies and the university’s Title V PPOHA (Promoting Postgraduate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans) grant.

Over the past four years, the PPOHA grant has provided more than $212,000 in funds for 45 graduate student fellowships.

This year’s recipients are: Sandra Berkshier, Alpine, biology, Justin Burt, Williston, S.C., animal science; Shea Carley, Austin, liberal arts; Corbin Carsrud, Alpine, geology; Taylor Daily, Lubbock, natural resource management (NRM); Maribel Glass, El Paso, NRM; Brittany Perron, Andrews, animal science; Howell Pugh, San Marcos, NRM; Roy Saffel, Alpine, NRM; Katherine Sauer, Denver, Colo., NRM; Cullom Simpson, Boerne, NRM; Breeann Sturges Woodlake, Calif., NRM; Barbara Sugarman, Alpine, NRM; and Kaitlyn Williams, Aledo, NRM.
