Foundation helping veterans through remodeling

A Texas-based remodeling group has teamed up with the Purple Heart Foundation to help out those who have served.

Zintex Remodeling Group recently announced its partnership with the Purple Heart Foundation last month.

In each quarter of 2022, the Purple Heart Foundation will select a Texas/Oklahoma based veteran through their own internal process where they are in need of a walk-in shower to make bathing easier and safer.

“What we are doing and this is a test basis that can go national if it works well but Zintex is generously donating one bathroom remodel per calendar quarter to a disabled veteran in one of the geographic areas where they have a presence,” Purple Heart Foundation CEO Steve Ruckman said. “We are going to the veteran and find one that is disabled and has issues with accessing their bathroom and that is the family that will have the bathroom renovation done.”

While the Purple Heart Foundation has not yet made a selection on who will be helped, Ruckman discussed what goes into the selection process.

“What we’re looking at is the need,” Ruckman said. “We’re looking for a veteran in need who is having mobility issues and maybe one where raising their legs to get in and out of the bathtub is difficult so they can get a remodel for an accessible bathroom or shower structure.”

Zintex has markets in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Wichita Falls, Abilene, San Angelo, Midland and Odessa as well as Lawton, Okla.

“We just opened the Midland and Odessa market back in October,” Zintex VP of Marketing Eric Peschke said. “We’re going north where we will open in Amarillo on Feb. 1. We’re also going into the Killeen and north Austin market. One of the things you’ll notice with each market we cover is that almost all of them have a type of military base in that market.”

The Purple Heart Foundation’s goal is to enhance the quality of life of all veterans and their families and to provide them with direct service and fostering an environment of camaraderie and goodwill among combat-wounded veterans.

“It feels really terrific,” Ruckman said. “We at the Purple Heart Foundation recognize that freedom isn’t free. It’s paid for by the blood and sweat of our nation’s veterans and their families. Every day, we are focused on how we can give back to that group that has given so much to us and this partnership with Zintex is a way to give back.  I don’t know anyone else doing this across the country and we’re very excited about that.”

Zintex owner Nick Zindel talked about his excitement in the partnership with the Purple Heart Foundation.

“One of the things that I like about the Purple Heart Foundation is that they do their due diligence with teaming up with the right contractors so they do everything behind the scenes to make sure the project is taken care of as well as their organization,” Zindel said. “Meeting with another organization which knows this isn’t their first rodeo, we feel comfortable moving forward and insuring them that we can handle the load that we’re willing to load up on for 2022.”
