NRA sign removed at OHS

A sign at Odessa High School saying “Proud Grant Recipient Thanks to the NRA and the NRA Foundation” was removed March 2, Principal Mauricio Marquez said Monday.

Marquez said it was part of the JROTC program, but the teacher did not ask for approval to post the sign.

Marquez said any sign, and signs like that specifically, have to be approved by campus administration. Anyone who wants to post a sign has to talk to Marquez or his associate principal. Signs or flyers posted around the district have to be approved.

“… Because of the situation we find ourselves in right now, it is definitely not the type of thing to be promoted. I understand if they do receive some partnerships, they can certainly have in confines of class,” but not posted in public, Marquez said.
