Threat puts LBJ on lockout

A generic threat on social media put an Ector County ISD campus into lockout Thursday.

Director of Communications Mike Adkins said the post said something along the lines of wait until 10 a.m. and had a picture of a gun. Adkins said there was no specific target. It didn’t specify a school, city or region. He said Midland law enforcement was dealing with the same thing.

Adkins said the ECISD police called him at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday. He added that principals were made aware of it.

LBJ Elementary made a decision out of an abundance of caution to bring PE and recess indoors and the students were kept inside the rest of the day, Adkins said. During a lockout, everything goes on as normal inside a school, but everyone stays inside. The school decided it would be a prudent move, he said.
