Student Crimestoppers tip leads to arrest

A Student Crimestoppers tip Monday morning led to the arrest of a 10th grade student in possession of a gun at Odessa High School.

After receiving the tip, ECISD police and school leaders moved very quickly to locate the student identified in the tip and take him into custody. The student is charged with places weapons prohibited, a third-degree felony, a news release said.

Odessa’s Student Crimestoppers program is recognized as one of the most effective in the state. Crimestoppers tips cans result in up to a $500 reward in cases like this.

ECISD leaders want to thank those who came forward with information, and the ECISD police officers and administrators who kept everyone’s safety at the forefront as they responded to the report, the release said.
