Accountability presentation on ECISD agenda

The Ector County ISD Board of Trustees will hear an accountability ratings summary at their 6 p.m. meeting Tuesday in the first floor board room of the administration building, 802 N. Sam Houston Ave.

Accountability ratings were made public by the Texas Education Agency Monday. Some campuses and districts statewide have already made their ratings known.

In a news conference Monday, Superintendent Scott Muri announced that the district earned a B in the ratings.

In 2021-22, state accountability was modified.

“So there will not be any D or F schools in the state of Texas because the only schools that are being rated are schools that received an A, B or a C. Once again, the commissioner modified, made some adjustments with the accountability system because of the pandemic,” Muri said in Aug. 4.

A public hearing on ECISD’s intention to consider designating the Quail Run Carbon Reinvestment Zone is also on the agenda Tuesday.

>> Trustees will consider approving a memorandum of understanding between ECISD and University of Texas Permian Basin regarding a diagnostician pipeline designed to support selected ECISD employees seeking their master’s degree in special education and certification as a diagnostician.

Ector County ISD Special Services Department will partner with UTPB College of Education to provide selected candidates an online option to obtain Texas certification/licensure for diagnostician within a 24-month time frame, supplemental agenda material said.

>> Trustees also will consider appointing and/or hiring principals for Buice and Travis Elementary schools, the principal at Bowie Middle School and a new executive director of Career and Technical Education.

>> Also on the agenda are the presentation of Extra Mile Award to Lorraine Perryman, Lisa Wyman and Chris Cole Presentation of Split Gavel Award to Tammy Hawkins; the announcement of NAMM Foundation Best Communities for Music Education Award; and introduction of UIL Outstanding Soloists.
