ECTOR COUNTY FELONY DISPOSITIONS June 23, 2019

 

The following is a list of felony dispositions from the Ector County District Clerk’s Office. Listed attorneys do not necessarily represent who was involved when the case was disposed. The prosecuting attorney was not listed unless otherwise stated.

 

ACCIDENT INVOLVING INJURY

  • Craig Austin Ashmore, 31, was convicted guilty by a jury May 9 on a charge of accident involving injury and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Judge John Smith approved the deal. Kevin Acker was the defense attorney.

 

ASSAULT

  • Manuel Rene Gaytan, 36, pleaded guilty June 14 to assault (family violence) with a previous convictions and was sentenced to five years in prison. Judge James Rush approved the deal. Israel Guardiola was the defense attorney. 

 

BURGLARY

  • Nathaniel Thiesfeld, 18, pleaded guilty June 17 to burglary of a habitation and was sentenced to six years in prison. Judge Stacy Trotter approved the deal. Bret Mansur was the defense attorney.

 

CREDIT CARD ABUSE

  • Brian Raul Rodriguez, 37, pleaded guilty June 13 to credit card abuse and was sentenced to 20 months in state jail. Rodriguez also had four counts of bail jumping and failure to appear dismissed as part of the deal. Rush approved the deal. Matt Thomas was the defense attorney.

 

CRIMINAL NEGLIGENT HOMICIDE

  • Jose Jesus Arellano, 47, had a charge of criminal negligent homicide dismissed June 13 because the case could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Rush presided. The defense attorney was not listed.

 

DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED

  • Daniel Montoya, 31, pleaded guilty June 13 to driving while intoxicated, third or more; and possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram, and was sentenced to 10 years probation and five years probation, respectively, on those charges. Trotter approved the deal. Gary Garrison was the defense attorney.

 

EVADING ARREST

  • Rudy Alexander Merimon, 20, was sentenced to four years in prison in an order adjudicating guilt May 24 on a charge of evading arrest with a vehicle. Rush approved the deal. Mike Holmes was the defense attorney.
  • Jamie Gage Mullins, 24, was sentenced to five years in prison in an order adjudicating guilt June 12 on a charge of evading arrest with a vehicle. Judge Denn Whalen approved the deal. Don Fletcher was the defense attorney.
  • Fabian Joel Luna, 28, pleaded guilty June 17 to evading arrest with a vehicle and was sentenced to five years in prison. Trotter approved the deal. Josh Stephens was the defense attorney.
  • Andrew Diaz, 20, pleaded guilty June 18 to evading arrest with a vehicle and was sentenced to six years in prison. Trotter approved the deal. Daniel Sarabia Jr. was the defense attorney.

 

FORGERY

  • Lucas Monty Mansell, 30, pleaded guilty June 14 to forgery of a financial instrument and was sentenced to 12 months in state jail. Rush approved the deal. Sara Spector was the defense attorney.

 

INDECENCY WITH CHILD

  • Abel Ivan Barajas, 44, pleaded guilty June 14 to indecency with a child by sexual contact and was sentenced to 12 years in prison. Barajas also had another charge of indecency with a child by sexual contact dismissed as part of the deal. Rush approved the deal. Acker was the defense attorney.

 

INJURY TO CHILD/ELDERLY/DISABLED

  • Ember Delise Lajuanie, 22, pleaded guilty May 13 to injury to a child, elderly or disabled person with intent to cause serious mental or bodily injury and was sentenced to10 years probation and deferred adjudication. Lajuanie also had charges of abandoning or endangering a child and abandoning or endangering a child under circumstances that would place the child in imminent danger of bodily injury dismissed as part of the deal. Trotter approved the deal. Michael McLeaish was the defense attorney.

 

POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

  • Christopher Dean Simpson, 18, was sentenced to six years in prison in an order adjudicating guilt May 31 on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, four grams or more but less than 200 grams. Rush approved the deal. Carlos Rodriguez was the defense attorney.
  • Anthony Dean McDowell, 28, had a charge of possession of a controlled substance, one gram or more but less than four grams, dismissed June 11. Smith presided. Tony Chavez was the defense attorney.
  • Arlene Ann Bermudez, 42, was sentenced to 10 months in state jail in an order adjudicating guilt June 12 on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram. Whalen approved the deal. Acker was the defense attorney.
  • Ike Brodnex, 35, pleaded guilty June 13 to possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram, and was sentenced to 14 months in state jail. Trotter approved the deal. Alan Harris was the defense attorney.
  • Clayton Merka, 26, pleaded guilty June 13 to possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram, and was sentenced to 10 months in state jail. Trotter approved the deal. Jason Schoel was the defense attorney.
  • Jadson Earl Ephriam, 21, pleaded guilty June 17 to possession of a controlled substance (marijuana), five pounds or less but more than four ounces, and was sentenced to four years probation and deferred adjudication. Trotter approved the deal. B.J. Brown was the defense attorney.
  • Bryony Maria Hinojos, 40, pleaded guilty June 17 to possession of a controlled substance, one gram or more but less than four grams, and was sentenced to four years probation and deferred adjudication. Trotter approved the deal. Fletcher was the defense attorney.
