ECISD develops new avenue for finding, training teachers

Ector County ISD announced Tuesday that applications are now being accepted for the Para 2 Teacher opportunity.

As part of ECISD’s strategic priority to create pipelines for finding and developing teachers, the Para 2 Teacher opportunity will provide funding for up to six instructional paraprofessionals to complete their bachelor’s degree, undergo a certification program, and provide additional funding for living expenses.

ECISD received funding support from the Texas Education Agency as part of the Texas COVID Learning Acceleration Supports (TCLAS). This portion of the funding is specifically designated for “Grow Your Own” supports.

The Grow Your Own program is designed to facilitate increased entry of qualified, diverse candidates into the teaching profession, particularly in rural and small school settings, a news release said. This particular part of Grow Your Own provides supports for paraprofessionals to become certified teachers.
