DPS identifies man killed in Sunday wreck

Texas Department of Public Safety identified Wednesday a man who died and three others who were injured after a crash Sunday on I-20 west of Odessa.

Hector Soto, 23, of El Paso, was pronounced dead on the scene after the crash, a Texas Department of Public Safety release stated.

The crash occurred before 6 p.m. Sunday. Preliminary investigation indicated that a 2001 Ford F-250 swerved to avoid a collision with a vehicle that pulled out in front of it, before the driver lost control and ran into the rear end of the trailer a 2015 Freightliner truck was towing, the release stated.

Soto was a passenger in the F-250.

The release stated the driver of the F-250, Jose Arellano, 46, of Dallas, and two other passengers, identified as Daniel Palacios, 23, of Wetseka, Ill., and Heriberto Arellano, 21, of Garland, were all taken to Medical Center Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

The driver of the Freightliner, David Lang, 35, of Mesa, Ariz., was not injured.
