Woman charged with selling fake insurance

Police charged a woman Feb. 22 after reportedly selling false motor vehicle insurance to another person.

Allstate Insurance first made a tampering with government records report with the Odessa Police Department on Feb. 7, according to an OPD news release.

A former Allstate employee, Amber Patino, reportedly sold fraudulent motor vehicle insurance to someone, the release detailed, and issued two insurance cards knowing they were false and invalid.

OPD obtained two warrants for Patino, the release stated, who was charged with two counts of tampering with a government record — insurance documents, a second-degree felony.

Jail records show Patino was taken to the Ector County Detention Center on Feb. 22 and has two bonds totaling $50,000.
