Woman charged with meth possession, child endangerment

Police charged a woman Monday after she was reportedly found in possession of methamphetamine while also watching her 6-year-old daughter.

Officers were called about a welfare check around 10:55 p.m. Monday in the 1300 block of East 36th Street, an Odessa Police Department news release stated.

Police reported finding 30-year-old Betzabel Valerio, who reportedly had slurred speech and glassy eyes, the release detailed, in possession of a syringe, marijuana, and about 5.6 grams of methamphetamine.

Officers also made contact with Valerio’s daughter, who had a backpack with her, the release stated.

The backpack reportedly contained children’s clothing, a large glass bong and glass pipe with methamphetamine residue inside of it, the release detailed.

Valerio was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a second-degree felony, endangering a child, a state jail felony, and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.

The release stated her daughter was placed into Child Protective Services custody.

Jail records show Valerio was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Tuesday and has three bonds totaling $33,000.
