Woman charged with assaulting wife

The Odessa Police Department charged a woman Tuesday after she reportedly cut her wife with a knife at a bus stop.

Police responded to the incident around 12:47 p.m. Tuesday at Music City Mall, 4101 E. 42nd St., an OPD press release detailed.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with 49-year-old Charlotte Yvette Jackson and her 36-year-old wife, the release detailed.

Jackson had reportedly followed her wife to the EZ Rider bus stop near the mall food court, as OPD spokesman Steve LeSueur said the victim was an EZ Rider bus driver, and pulled out a knife and threatened to cut the tires of the bus, the release said. After a brief struggle between the two, Jackson cut her wife on her right hand.

The knife was found by officers in the center console of Jackson’s vehicle, the release stated.

Jackson was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.

Jail records show Jackson was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Tuesday and has $25,000 bond.
