Odessa police arrested two men in connection with two separate sexual assault investigations.

Officers arrested 29-year-old Silvestre Young Perez at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday for two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony, an Odessa Police Department news release stated.

A sexual assault report made with the OPD on Feb. 5 stated a 5-year-old girl and 7-year-old girl reportedly were assaulted by a known person, identified as Perez. A forensic interview was conducted on both girls and investigation revealed Perez sexually assaulted both girls on different occasions, the release stated.

OPD detectives obtained warrants for Perez, who was eventually charged, arrested and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. Jail records showed no bond had been set for Perez as of Friday afternoon and he remained in custody.

A traffic stop led to the arrest of an 18-year-old fugitive wanted for aggravated sexual assault of a child in a separate case.

Police arrested Daeshun Montray Bars on Thursday for aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first degree felony, and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.

A news release stated officers saw a white Ford Mustang stopped in the middle of the roadway in the 5000 block of E. 42nd Street when they made the traffic stop. The front passenger was identified as Bars.

Officers could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and found Bars to be in possession of the drug, the release stated. Investigation revealed Bars had a first-degree felony warrant and he was arrested, charged and transported to Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

On August 23, a sexual assault report was made with OPD detailing a 13-year-old female had sexual intercourse with a known person, identified as Bars, the release stated.

Jail records showed no bond had been set as of Friday afternoon and Bars remained in custody.
