Two men were arrested in Odessa after a wanted suspect was found hiding in a storage compartment under a bed in an area residence, an Odessa police release stated.

Alejandro Venegas Jr., 27, was arrested and charged with tampering with physical evidence, a third-degree felony, and on 18 misdemeanor warrants.

Julio Burciaga, 20, was arrested and charged with third-degree-felony hindering apprehension, and possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor.

The release stated officers reported to the residence in the area of 20th Street and Lincoln Avenue on Tuesday in search of the wanted Venegas, before Burciaga answered the door telling officers he was the only person there and that he didn’t know Venegas.

The release reported that officers smelled marijuana while on the porch, then saw a leafy green substance on the counter in plain view while speaking to Burciaga. Officers then found Venegas in the compartment under a bed in the residence.

Both were arrested and taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
