Suspect found in hit and run case

Police arrested a man Wednesday who was reportedly involved in a hit and run that left one man in critical condition.

Justin Lee Rodriguez, 22, was charged with two counts of failing to stop and render aid, a third-degree felony. An Odessa Police Department news release stated he was found as a result of a Crime Stoppers tip and was found to have injuries consistent with being involved in a crash.

The crash was first called around 12:16 a.m. May 6 near University Boulevard and Ventura Avenue, the release stated.

A white 2012 Dodge Ram, being driven by 24-year-old Sergio Ojeda of Odessa with passenger 19-year-old Julian Marquez of Odessa, was traveling east in the 1900 block of West University, the release detailed.

In the same block, a white 2007 Ford Expedition, reportedly driven by Rodriguez, was traveling west on the wrong side of the road and collided with the Dodge Ram, the release stated. Rodriguez then left the scene of the accident without meeting legal requirements.

Jail records show Rodriguez was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Wednesday and released the same day on two bonds totaling $15,000.
