Suspect charged with two robberies

Odessa police charged a man Wednesday with two aggravated robberies that occurred late that evening in North Odessa.

Officers were first called around 9:21 p.m. about a robbery at HIVE Comics, 3615 N. Dixie Blvd., according to an Odessa Police Department news release.

The suspect, 27-year-old Joshua Palmer, reportedly robbed the victim of his cell phone and car keys at gun point and left the scene in a brown 2012 Buick Regal, the release stated.

Later that evening at around 10:31 p.m., officers were called about another robbery at 7-Eleven, 1401 W. University Blvd., the release said, where the same suspect reportedly took another victim’s debit card at gunpoint while they were pumping gas before fleeing in a black four-door vehicle.

Police later located the stolen Buick near 57th Street and Fort Worth Avenue, the release detailed, and pursued the vehicle before it crashed into another vehicle near 57th Street and Golder Avenue.

Police identified the driver as Palmer, who was found to be in possession of the same debit card that had been stolen at 7-Eleven, according to the release.

Palmer was also found to be in possession of a gun and marijuana, the release stated, and was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, a third-degree felony, and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.

Jail records show Palmer was taken to the Ector County Detention Center on Thursday and has four bonds totaling $555,000.
