Two storage sheds in a backyard were destroyed by fire Friday afternoon in Odessa, but responders controlled the fire before it damaged any nearby residential structures.

Responders were deployed to the 700 block of West 81st Street during the noon hour, but managed to keep the fire contained despite high winds with speeds around 40 miles per hour blowing through the area.

Odessa Fire and Rescue battalion chief Bobby White said the flame front was pushing toward and threatening a neighboring structure when responders arrived, before it was knocked back.

White said there were no other exposures to fire, and no injuries. The cause of the fire was still unknown as crews swept the area just before 1 p.m., though White said it was likely electrically related.
