Police shoot at suspect after stealing vehicle, hitting officer

The Odessa Police Department officers reportedly shot at a suspect who was driving a stolen vehicle after the stolen vehicle struck an officer.

The reported officer-involved shooting happened at 2:39 a.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of E. 37th Street while officers were investigating a stolen vehicle, an OPD press release stated.

While at the scene, the stolen vehicle reportedly exited through a garage door, striking a vehicle and grazed an officer. Officers fired their duty weapons at the vehicle as it fled the scene. The suspect driving the stolen vehicle struck an additional unit in the intersection of E. 42nd Street and Andrews Highway.

The stolen vehicle was reportedly later recovered in North Odessa. The officer-involved shooting was also turned over to be investigated by the Texas Rangers.
