Police searching for hover board thieves

Police are searching for two suspects after one of them reportedly tried paying for a hover board with counterfeit money.

Officers were called about a theft at the Variety Store at Music City Mall at around 12:22 p.m. Feb. 4, according to an Odessa Police Department news release.

A man wearing a black shirt reportedly attempted to pay for a hover board with five fifty-dollar counterfeit bills, the release said, and while the cashier was questioning the bills’ authenticity, the suspect left the store with the hover board.

The suspect was picked up by another man wearing a white shirt in a black Ford F-250, and the release said both suspects had been working together to steal the merchandise.

Photos of the suspects can be found online at odessapd.com or on OPD’s Facebook page.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the identity of the two suspects to call Detective J. Campbell at 432-335-4615 or Odessa Crime Stoppers at 432-333-TIPS and reference case number 18-05546.
