One man was arrested early Thursday morning following a high-speed chase through Ector and Midland counties that lasted more than 45 minutes and involved four different law enforcement agencies.
The Ector County Sheriff’s Office was called around 5 a.m. Thursday to the area of 42nd Street and West County Road to assist the Odessa Police Department on a vehicle that had been evading them, an ECSO news release stated.
ECSO took the lead in the pursuit of a black Toyota Camry, the release detailed, which reached speeds more than 100 miles per hour.
The suspect vehicle, being driven by 24-year-old Isaiah Bernard Martinez, led officers into Midland County and then back into Ector County during the chase, the release stated, while being pursued by ECSO, OPD, University of Texas of the Permian Basin police and the Midland County Sheriff’s Office.
Martinez was driving recklessly, running stop signs and red lights before coming to an end at Faudree Road and Dorado Drive in Midland County where his vehicle intentionally struck a highway patrol vehicle, the release detailed.
ECSO charged Martinez with two counts of evading arrest in a motor vehicle, a third-degree felony.
Martinez was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Thursday morning. No bond had been set as of Thursday afternoon.
