OPD: Suspect evading officers found with methamphetamine

After running from officers during a traffic stop, a man was apprehended and charged with possession of methamphetamine police said he attempted to throw away.

Odessa police first stopped the suspect, 34-year-old Ancuncion Villa Deleon around 1:10 a.m. Wednesday in the 1000 block of North County Road West, according to an OPD news release.

Deleon immediately opened the door of his vehicle and reportedly pushed officers before running away, the release detailed. He then reportedly threw an object onto the ground while evading police.

Officers found the object, a plastic container filled with around 4.4 grams of methamphetamine, the release stated.

Deleon was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a second-degree felony, tampering with physical evidence, a third-degree felony, resisting arrest and evading arrest, class A misdemeanors.

Jail records show Deleon was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Wednesday and has four bonds totaling $85,000.
