Officers arrested and charged a woman Thursday as a result of a Crime Stoppers tip that she stole an iPhone X left at a Subway last month.

The theft was first reported in May after a customer left behind their Apple iPhone X, valued at around $1,000, on the counter while paying. The phone was then taken by another woman.

The suspect, 32-year-old Laura Tercero, was interviewed by detectives and admitted to stealing the phone and removing the SIM card, an Odessa Police Department news release stated. Tercero reportedly threw the SIM card away and transferred all of the victim’s cloud information into her name.

Police charged Tercero with tampering with physical evidence, a third-degree felony, and theft of property, a class A misdemeanor.
