OPD: Man punched, bit, choked girlfriend

A man was arrested and charged early Wednesday morning after reportedly punching, biting and choking his girlfriend.

Officers were called about the disturbance around 12:09 a.m. Wednesday at J Bar T Apartments, 2505 Kermit Highway, where they found the 42-year-old woman and her boyfriend, 45-year-old Thomas Lucio III.

Lucio reportedly began punching his girlfriend in the face before pushing her to the ground after a disturbance between the two, an Odessa Police Department news release stated.

While she was on the ground, Lucio reportedly placed his knee over the victim’s throat and applied pressure, the release detailed. The victim told officers Lucio bit her on the arm and punched her in the face.

After seeing bodily injury on the victim and a neighbor reporting they saw Lucio throw his girlfriend against the wall, Lucio was charged with assault by strangulation, a third-degree felony.

Jail records show Lucio was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Wednesday and has a $25,000 bond.
