OPD: Man found with 44 grams of cocaine

After reportedly attempting to evade officers, a man was arrested Tuesday night in possession of 44 grams of cocaine.

Officers conducted a traffic stop around 9:42 p.m. Tuesday night in the 300 block of Crockett Street after they saw a dark colored vehicle speeding on McKnight Drive, an Odessa Police Department news release stated.

The front passenger, 31-year-old Adolfo Llanez, immediately exited the vehicle and ran into a residence while throwing an item onto the floor, the release detailed, before being caught and placed into custody.

Officers retrieved the item in the kitchen, the release stated, which was reportedly a bag containing around 44 grams of cocaine. Llanez was also found in possession of marijuana and dispatch advised he had a prior conviction for evading.

Police charged Llanez with manufacture or delivery of cocaine, a first-degree felony, tampering with physical evidence, a third-degree felony, evading arrest or detention with a prior conviction, a state jail felony, and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.

Jail records show Llanez was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Wednesday and has four bonds totaling $115,500.
