OPD makes arrest after stabbing

Odessa police arrested a man on felony charges after a stabbing early Sunday.

Justin Henderson, 21, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.

A release stated Odessa police responded to Medical Center Hospital just after 1 a.m. Sunday about a stab victim, making contact with Joseph Flanagan, 38, who had a stab wound to his torso.

Witnesses reported that Flanagan was stabbed in the 300 block of West University before he was taken in a private vehicle to the hospital, identifying Henderson as the attacker.

Detectives obtained a warrant for Henderson and later found him and placed him into custody before taking him to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

The release stated Flanagan’s injuries were life threatening.
