OPD investigating weekend stabbing

Police are searching for a man who reportedly stabbed his girlfriend’s ex-husband several times Saturday afternoon.

Officers were called about a stabbing victim around 2:23 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of Golder Avenue, according to an Odessa Police Department news release.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, 36-year-old Michael Madrid, who had sustained multiple stab wounds on his forearm, the release detailed. Madrid told police that a fight had ensued after his ex-wife had come to his residence with her new boyfriend, leading to him being stabbed.

The release said Madrid was taken to Medical Center Hospital with serious bodily injury, and OPD Spokesman Steve LeSueur said Madrid has since been released from the hospital.

No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
