The Odessa Police Department is investigating a Wednesday night shooting that left one man with multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers were called about a gunshot victim at around 7:27 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Patterson Avenue, an OPD news release stated.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, 53-year-old Jimmy Winfield, who was taken to Medical Center Hospital with serious bodily injury, the release detailed. MCH Spokeswoman Rhonda Lewallen said Winfield was in fair condition as of Thursday morning.

Winfield was shot several times by an unknown person who fled the scene before police arrived, the release stated.

No arrests have been made at this time and the release detailed there are no suspects. There were two persons of interest, the release detailed, but after being interviewed by detectives, they were both determined to no longer be persons of interest in the investigation.
