The Odessa Police Department bomb squad was called in Thursday about a suspicious bag at a church in Andrews County.

A call came in around 1:18 p.m. Thursday to the Andrews County Sheriff’s Office, an ACSO news release said, about a suspicious bag at Means Methodist Church in Andrews.

The release stated a black nylon bag was found outside the office door of the church, and church employees were unsure where it came from.

Officers evacuated residences in the 200 block of Northeast Avenue B and blocked off a three block area before calling in the OPD bomb squad for assistance, the release detailed.

Upon arrival, OPD evaluated the bag and determined the contents to be a laptop computer and suspicious items, the release said.
