OPD: 40 grams of meth found in Odessa hotel room

Odessa police arrested a woman late Monday night on charges related to the distribution of methamphetamine and child endangerment, alleging an investigation led to the seizure of about 40 grams of meth in an Odessa hotel room.

Roxanne Phebe Marie Diaz, 34, was arrested and charged with first-degree-felony manufacture and delivery of methamphetamine, third-degree-felony prohibited substance in a correctional facility and three counts of state-jail-felony endangering a child.

An Odessa police release states that officers made contact with Monday night when they observed a white 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Diaz traveling in the area of 61st Street and Andrews Highway with an expired registration.

When a traffic stop was conducted, officers found Diaz to be in possession of several meth pipes, the release detailed, before a female officer searched Diaz and discovered a bag of methamphetamine weighing about three grams in her bra.

The release states that Diaz admitted to possessing more methamphetamine in her hotel room at MCM Grande Hotel and Fun Dome.

When officers responded to the hotel room, they found three children left alone without any adult supervision, and observed about 40 grams of methamphetamine in plain view along with a scale and unused baggies.

The children were identified as a 12-year-old girl, a 10-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl.

Diaz was arrest and taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

While at the jail, Diaz was found to be in possession of another bag of meth, and an additional charge was added.

Child Protective Services were notified of the incident and the three children were release to a family member.
